Zunera Ahmed

Zunera Ahmed is a local community organizer and political operative in Brooklyn, NY. Spending the summer of 2016 recovering from surgery and watching the 2016 Presidential Election coverage, Zunera returned to her college campus determined to get engaged in politics. Zunera became a member of IGNITE’s New York City college council and then IGNITE’s New York Fellow, aiming to create a safe space for women to ask questions and challenge themselves. Since her start in politics, Zunera has worked in the United States House of Representatives, working on reuniting families affected by Trump’s Muslim Ban and serving the very community that raised her. Zunera serves as Second Vice Chair of Brooklyn’s Community Board 13, ensuring young people have a voice in the Southern Brooklyn community. She has won 2 campaigns and is currently campaign manager for a local State Senate race. Zunera is a graduate of Brooklyn College, CUNY and lives in Brooklyn with her two rescue dogs and cat.
