“You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive.” - James Baldwin. Inspired by the stories, characters, events, and themes within the 10,000 Books Banned across the USA (such as Wicked, 1984, The Handmaid’s Tale, and more), join Level Forward’s Anthem award-winning conversation series for an urgent conversation traversing the past, present, and future of story censorship, examining why and how books get banned, and uplifting the desperate importance of libraries. Hosted by Andrea Ambam and featuring special guests OlaRonke Akinmowo (Founder of The Free Black Women’s Library) and Dr. Mahogany L. Browne (Banned Book Author & & Kennedy Center's Next 50 Fellow).
